a hippie (and a hipster) do otome...and lots of other nerdy, dorky, and/or adolescent things!
Before I even start...
I am a fangirl. I love things that no one else (or very few others) love and I love them for irrational reasons. However, I am also a skeptic. A fanatical skeptic, if you will. I love things deeply, but I am wary of them at first. I don't like taking other people's word for it, and I don't trust most other people's opinions. I really enjoy seeing for myself, reading into stuff and digging deeper, even if I find things I don't like or agree with.
I critique, criticize, over-analyze, mock and generally degrade most of the things I ultimately love, and manga (books, film, and art in general) is no exception.
So, I will most definitely someday viciously critique things I, and you, really enjoy and love.
I'm sorry: I was a liberal and fine arts major. Its all I know. Please don't get offended.
disclaimer, part 2:
I started watching anime with three 20-something young men in the early aughts, and have re-invigorated that practice by randomly selecting first episodes from the Netflix catalog. I started reading manga by hunting down my favorite anime and by randomly selecting from the library's collection based on the volume covers. That said my taste is random, skews a bit "retro", and is sometimes mildly offensive.
I am also a pro-sex feminist,
who thinks the human form is beautiful and shouldn't be censored. I enjoy shojo, mecha, yaoi, fantasy and action genres and like to read old things over and over.
That's a roundabout way of saying I have terrible taste, you might see nudity on my blog, and I might include spoilers.
You've been warned.
